MFT-5000 Multi-Function Tribometer Installation | University of Glasgow

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the University of Glasgow to install an MFT-5000 Multi-function Tribometer from Rtec Instruments, complete with a reciprocating module for wear testing and an electrical testing module.

It was a privilege to support the University of Glasgow team with hands-on training, covering different modules and general operation of the instrument.

The team will be using the MFT5000 primarily to expand their research on triboelectrification and triboelectric nanogenerators in sliding mode. The MFT5000 allows for the reciprocating sliding they require using the fast-reciprocating stage.

“We have been very happy with the thorough installation and training we received and now we have the machine up and running and benefiting students and researchers here in the James Watt School of Engineering” – Daniel Mulvihill, Professor of Materials Engineering and Tribology.
