Explore Tribology Solutions at IET New Challenges in Tribology 2020
New Challenges in Tribology 2020
This April, CN Tech will be heading to the University of Birmingham for New Challenges in Tribology 2020. Organised by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), New Challenges in Tribology is a yearly conference discussing advances and applications in the field of tribology. In 2020, the conference will focus on the issues of friction, lubrication, and wear in sustainable transport and energy. Friction and wear of moving parts are key considerations in the design of renewable wind, wave, and hydropower energy systems, as well as in improving the efficiency of vehicle designs.
A series of technical talks will be held during the event this year, covering all areas of tribology, including friction, wear, and lubrication. Corrosion, coatings, and the applications of tribology and related fields to renewable energy and low carbon transport will also be discussed. A full programme will soon be confirmed. There will also be a poster competition for students to showcase research.

Materials Testing Solutions from CN Tech
CN Tech offers a wide variety of solutions for addressing the imaging and analysis needs of tribology, and the broader surface sciences. At New Challenges in Tribology 2020, we will be representing our new range of tribology systems from Rtec Instruments, a leading manufacturer of instruments for characterising coatings, lubricants, and materials. Rtec Instrument’s range includes a Multi Function Tribometer and 3D Scratch Tester.
Our representatives will also be on hand to discuss our in-situ materials testing systems, including the Swift Tensile Stage from Swift Instruments, and NanoFlip® Nano Indenter from KLA. These innovative and flexible solutions for materials testing allow mechanical measurements to be combined with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) imaging, to provide greater insight in materials research.
New Challenges in Tribology 2020 will be held at University of Birmingham, School of Metallurgy and Minerals, on the 1st and 2nd April 2020.
