Imaging Modes

3D reflected-light microscopy

Used for reflected surfaces like silicon and metals. The imaging unit can view samples from approx. 10° to 80°.

3D transmitted-light microscopy

Used for transparent surfaces like glass, COC and PDMS. The imaging unit can view samples from approx. 10° to 80°.

2D upright microscopy

Imaging from top using ring illumination.

2D inverted microscopy

Imaging from top using bottom illumination.
Manual Inspection

Imaging without using the motorised X-Y-R stage for quick inspection of samples.
Sample Tilting

Using the rotary stage to tilt the sample instead of the camera.
Contact-angle measurements

Imaging sample from its side. Can be used for static water contact-angle estimations.
Macro photography

Imaging large objects from a distance by moving the X-Y-R stage elsewhere.
Motorised tripod

Using a smartphone or a small camera (e.g. GoPro) instead of the camera module. (Not suitable for SLR cameras!)
Telephoto zoom

Changing the objective lens to convert the system to a telephoto zoom camera. Yes, seriously.

MRCL Viewer Software

The system is provided with dedicated software (included in the price) to capture microscope images and videos, and control the microscope hardware. The software and its updates are sent to the users by email.

The software supports advanced features like:
  • Automatic focus stacking
  • Dynamic scale bar integration
  • Live measurements
  • HDR imaging
  • Time-lapse
  • 4K video
  • Motorised point-of-interest centring by mouse click
